Pick-And-Place Buyers Guide:
Equipment Selection
Determine feeder (feeder slot) requirement:
- Reference package types for all unique components per assembly
- Determine how components packages will be delivered/presented to assembler
- If delivered on tape find tape width (dictates feeder size)
- How many parts delivered in tube (stick)
- How many JEDEC tray parts
- Indentify largest, smallest, and finest pitch component to be placed
- Reference equipment specification to ensure components can be handled and placed
- Determine how many feeder slots are occupied for tape feeders larger than 8mm and identify how many 8mm feeder slots are required for producing the board. (Equipment manufacturers reference 8mm feeders when identifying how many feeders are available on pick and place platform)
Note: Above information is explained in Step 2.
