Panasonic Debuts AM100: A Single Machine Solution
Panasonic Factory Solutions Company of America introduced the AM100, a single machine solution for productivity and versatility. This modular placement machine features a single head (single beam) capable of placing an impressive component array ranging from 0402 mm to 120 x 90 x 28 mm, large connectors, odd-shaped components, and advanced packaging types such as PoP.
“The new Panasonic AM100 further expands our commitment to the high-mix market and pushes our broad portfolio of any-mix solutions to an even higher level,” stated Faisal Pandit, president. “Panasonic is well known as a world leader in the electronics manufacturing space. In fact, seven out of 10 automotive electronics manufacturers and all five of the top five smart phone manufacturers use Panasonic solutions. We have also achieved success in the high-mix space in terms of innovation, software, and general processes and with the new AM100 we are sure to further increase our presence in the high-mix market.”
From mobile to industrial, manufacturers can prepare their next product while production is running for non-stop changeover and put to use a variety of highly flexible configurations and component supply types. Flexible setup is further enhanced by Feeder Anywhere and Nozzle Anywhere features as well as through use of PanaCIM® Material Verification. Large boards can be processed on the AM100 and advanced features including a component thickness camera, auto-support pin exchange, PCB warpage detection, and tray verification are also available.
“The AM100 maintains the high standards for capability, flexibility, and reliability customers expect from Panasonic in a cost-effective, incrementally scalable solution,” commented Mark Ragard, general manager – Electronics Assembly Sales, Panasonic Factory Solutions Company of America.
Only one machine is required to get production started and it’s easy to add more units and or technologies as demands change. In addition to serving as a start-up machine for a new production line, existing Panasonic customers will appreciate the asset protection between the new AM100 and the CM and NPM equipment lines. Feeders, multi-functional nozzles, and chucks are all interchangeable between the three series.
“So, while the AM100 is a new flexible solution for high mix, it’s also a new solution for customers looking to augment existing lines with expanded capability regardless of their mix,” added Ragard. www.panasonicfa.com
